The ioXtreme is our workstation product and is only supported for 64-bit versions of Linux, XP, Vista, and 7.

Ok well would it work in server 2008 r2 cause its basiclly windows 7.  ive had a couple things that arnt certified for server but do work in 7 and they ended up working in server.

Sorry, the ioXtreme will not be recognized in a Windows Server environment at all.  I will put your request in with our product management team... it can't hurt to ask for it!

thanks for the response im probably goin to put it in my windows 7 PC anyway its no big deal but would b nice to put it in a server system.  Let me get this right, the fusion iodrive and the duo work in server OS right?

Yes the ioDrive and ioDrive Duo are designed to work in Windows Server operating systems.  You say you haven't already purchased the ioXtreme? The other thing to be aware of is that the base ioXtreme doesn't support linking like the ioXtreme Pro. If you buy 1 ioXtreme base you can always add a "pro" card and link the 2 but if you wanted to add a 3rd card to your system you'd need to buy "Pro" models after that if you wanted them linked.

yes i have purchased one and i know about the pro version compared to the regular version.  Its probably gonna be a while before i get another fusion ioxtreme so right now im not to worried about it.  But thanks for the input!

Ok got my drive in today and im looking to maximize the performance out of it.  I was thinking of maybe running a linux OS on my Intel x25-m drive and then installing vmware to my ioxtreme and installing a Windows 7 OS on the ioXtreme which is where i will be doing all my work.  Will this speed up a lot of the processes that i run?  i plan to do a lot of video editing and maybe getting in to upscaleing my dvd movies to HD movies.  Would this be the best way to do this?

Thanks!

thanks the thing was very easy to install easiest HDD or, w/e you wanna call this beast, i have ever installed.  Im gonna try running linux unbuntu 9.04 and use vmware to load windows 7 to the ioxtreme.  My question is would it be better to install vmware to the ioxtreme or the intel x25-m?  i kno im going to put the actual virtual machine on the ioxtreme but what about the actual vmware app?
